  • This seems to be a very short book. How can it be comprehensive?
Well, first to quote the great Carl Friedrich Gauss, mathematician, astronomer, physicist and geodesist, "You know that I write slowly. This is chiefly because I am never satisfied until I have said as much as possible in a few words, and writing briefly takes far more time than writing at length." So I have aimed to be to the point and practical, without wordiness and irrelevance, avoiding the tangential. Readability is also a key feature, as will be seen from the reviews. Busy academics want the whole picture in a concise form,. I provide further reading for those who need to go further.
  • There are two versions of the book. Are they different?
The ebook provides extensive clickable links, internal and external. The paperback version cannot provide links in the same way (readers don't want to write links out – or even scan rhem), so there is a comprehensive index and footnotes instead. It may be worthwhile the reader having both versions, especially given the very low cost of the ebook (~$3 or less).
  • Other books are written by academics on academic publishing. Don't they know better than you?
Well, publishers often have quite different perspective on how to get published. My story is an insider's view. My academic friends, reviewers and writers have found my perspective invaluable, and even revelatory, as you will see from the reviews. I have been in publishing for 42 years. So, with that number in mind, I don't provide, in Douglas Adam's words, 'The answer to life, the universe and everything', but I hope this book answers you questions.
  • What does the book aim to achieve?
In a very comprehensive, readable and concise way, I aim for you to get your academic work published. It also has much guidance and rules for writers to follow from a publisher's perspective.
  • Why is your book better than the competition?
Some of the books that I recommend, and will review, do cover similar grounds, but many are either outdated, expensive or a very lengthy and wordy read. My aim has been to get you there in a very concise but comprehensive way, as per my reviews. Both my ebook and paperbsck are very inexpensive.
