A truly great book!
From Guttenberg and Caxton to Adobe, a wide-ranging history of type in extraordinary and brilliantly researched detail, I first thought I'd just be dipping in. But it turned into a great tale, and I read almost every word, only scanning the odd paragraph that went too deep for me. As a book publisher, I have long explored typography, but here I found a good few fonts I hadn't explored. I've now started to take much more notice of fonts in billboards, shop signs and advertising, which will make me take more notice of fonts in book covers.
This is an essential read for anyone in publishing, editing, design and advertising, or just interested in books.
